When you turn on 2FA, it will be enabled for all TunnelBear apps across your entire account.</p>\n<p>TunnelBear currently supports <strong>app authentication</strong> and <strong>email authentication </strong>as options when you choose to enable Two-Factor Authentication.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<h3 id=\"h_01JJS9VC6HYC6CFE5J0YZQTSKC\">App authentication</h3>\n<p><img src=\"https://help.tunnelbear.com/hc/article_attachments/16311470165659\" width=\"667\" height=\"375\"></p>\n<p>Use third-party authenticator apps to provide you with a unique code each time you log in to TunnelBear. Some common authenticator apps available are <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Authenticator\" target=\"_self\">Google Authenticator</a>, <a href=\"https://authy.com/\" target=\"_self\">Authy,</a> <a href=\"https://duo.com/about\" target=\"_self\">Duo</a>, and more. Many dedicated <strong>password manager apps also include their own app authenticator functionality</strong>.</p>\n<p>Using app authentication also allows you to download and store <strong>backup codes</strong>. These codes can be used to help you get logged in should you ever lose access to your device or authenticator app. <strong>It is highly recommended you generate backup codes and store them somewhere secure</strong>.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<h3 id=\"h_01JJS9VC6HZNX78ZCN4MSN0EDQ\">Email authentication</h3>\n<p><img src=\"https://help.tunnelbear.com/hc/article_attachments/16313143145115\" width=\"677\" height=\"362\"></p>\n<p>Email authentication allows you to send a one-time authentication code directly to your email address on file, whenever you try to log in. You can do this from your account on our website, or directly from the TunnelBear application.
