Some customers have reported issues when using Apple’s iMessage/FaceTime messaging applications at the same time as TunnelBear. This can cause messages and calls sent through these apps to be delayed, or in some cases fail completely. We’ve discovered that Apple is intermittently blocking iMessage/FaceTime when used via VPN.
It appears as though this issue affects all VPN providers, not just TunnelBear. We’ve already reported the problem to Apple directly.
What’s the long term solution?
While we wait for Apple to investigate the issue on their end, we’ve created the Apple Bypass feature, which allows users on the Mac desktop application to not route Apple traffic through the TunnelBear network.
