TunnelBear for MacOS has two tunneling protocols available, OpenVPN and IKEv2. It’s possible that you may run into a MacOS pop-up when using IKEv2 on MacOS 10.14 or newer. This is a known Apple bug and unfortunately we don’t have an ETA on when it might be fixed.
That said, we do have a workaround!
While you should still be able to connect using OpenVPN after dismissing the pop-up, you may be able to get rid of it entirely by running through the following:
- Restart your Mac in Safe mode. To do so, restart your computer and hold the 'shift' key. When you see the login screen, release the 'shift' key and log in as you normally would (you may be prompted twice).
- Launch and connect TunnelBear. After the app connects, restart your computer and allow it to boot normally.
- Launch TunnelBear again and you should be able to get connected without receiving the authentication prompt.
If you’ve run through these steps and you’re still unable to get connected to TunnelBear, reach out to our friendly support bears so we can assist you further!
